Wasps on a poppy

I found two wasps (?) on a red poppy in the garden. I am still trying to get the hang of shooting macros. Am I on the right track?

I don’t know, but if my macro shots were this good I’d be chuffed to bits.
Thanks for the comment. I took 19 shots to get these 2 maybe I should have used a tripod but we my luck the insects would have been gone.
Great stuff jools. Just one thing, go easy on the sharpening. It is too obvious and takes away from the quality.
Pssst……They’re Hoverflies :wink: If you’re using CS2 you can use the shadow/highlights filter in adjustments to bring out details in the flies,they look great against the red!
Thanks for the heads up on the insects Noely. I thought they were too slim for wasps. Thanks Danny for the shapening tip. Here’s another shot from the same session where I didn’t use any shapening.
I like the second shot because the details and composition. It would be better with less sharpening as Valentia said.
