hi
would really appreciate your thoughts on this set good or bad
is called
precious:of great value:not to be wasted or treated carelessly
was done using emulsion lifts onto gold and silver foils

RobertoMemberI love this technic! Specialy for abstract pictures. It’s sometimes very dificult to achive what you want.
I like the second picture with the gold foil because the expression of the girl come up well. You loos the details in the first one with the silver foil.
Have you tried to use drawing paper with different colours?David_SParticipantthanks roberto
i think i agree with you .. the gold foil worked better .. neither worked completely for me .. but i loved the concept behind the idea. oh well maybe next time :-)
in answer to your question yes i also tried onto cartridge paper …

AllinthemindParticipantInteresting idea David, I like the picture as a flat print (by the looks of it).
Welcome

RobertoMembertatianaMemberinteresting technique, quite original. These particular pictures don’t work for me I’m afraid. I wish there is more happenning on the picture i.e model performance, more dynamic maybe (to match performance with technique). I don’t see image as a whole, there is no connection between content and technique. But I absolutely love your technique, originality and creativity.
ImagineParticipantI love them, I think the third is the best because of the loss of detail already mentioned in relation to the first two.
For some reason when I looked at it I got an urge to want to see the same effect applied to a photograph of a tree. Not saying it is a good idea or that it would work as I have no idea how you did what you did, I’m just sharing, lol.
Would love to see more.

i did it the old fashioned ‘analogue’ way :-) .. which involved, hot water, burnt fingers and much swearing!!

Ah, I see! Have you ever seens any of Podge Kelly’s emulsion lift images?
Like a lot of the alternative photographic processes, it can be rather hit and miss – although the folks at Polaroid say that “Emulsion lifts are the easiest and most exciting Polaroid creative technique to master.” :D
For anyone wanting to check out Polaroids own description on how to do this, it’s described on their website – a piece called Do Emulsion Lifts
There’s also a bit on the Alternative Photography website.
EddieParticipantGreat image especially the paper based image. Subject matter and medium really work. Good greative work. Its a great medium. Not sure about using foil, dont imagine they will last. Have done some of these onto art paper but it is expensive and i don’t have many good slides, used 35mm slides . You may already know this but you should spray them with artists spray not the craft one. Love to see some more of your work. Lets know when your galleries on the website are up and running.
ciaranParticipantI really like this shots. The idea is just so original and the vibrant colours really add to the shots. Out of the 3, the he last (bottom) one stands out above the others, perhaps because Ali is much more vivid in in, where she looks a little lost in the colours in the others. Very nice shots all round.
RobMemberReally interesting technique and wonderful results. The third image in particular really stands out. As Ciaran already mentioned, Ali looks a little lost in the colours of the first two whereas far more detail is apparent in the third. Great shots
Rob.
FintanParticipantDavid_SParticipanta huge thank you to everyone for their comments very much appreciated.
a agree with most of what has been said – i personaly don’t think i quite pulled it off here, think the idea of the technique worked, but my photography let it down. didn’t do ali justice.
