I love the image but find the stars really distracting. Are they real stars thats have been affected by the image size reduction? or are the Pshopped in?.
My eye keeps going to the small light in the foreground. Is that a house? its a nice foreground interest and is small enough not to distract from the majestic mountains
If the stars remained but were toned down a little (good coming from me:-) then the shot would be perfect
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantHi Ras,
this is a double exposure – see technical details in the main entry. The night was very bright so just few stars were visible. However, i had to limit the sky exposure to 30 seconds to avoid startrails, and gave the landscape about 4 min to get fine details in it.
I can see your point but my goal was to reflect the magic night close as possible and i can remember that that few stars stand out. the file reduction may cause some distractions and make them look like white dots – they are more subtile in the highresolution file.
Yes it is a little cottage: the true see experience was more impressiv than the image as the cottage is reduced to a little spot. It was such a contrast: the cold high mountains and the little cottage with warm orange light, glowing like a little star ( :
flynnyParticipantHi Madeleine,
It’s another stunning shot,
Beautiful moody atmosphere.
Can I ask you where you took the shot from?miki gParticipantHi Madeleine. Another stunning result.A Beautiful image. I wonder how many of us are willing to go to such lenghts to achieve results such as this? I must commend you on your dedication & passion. It is a lesson to us all. Well done again

MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantthank you very much for your kind comments – loads of love for nature in me….that makes it look easy.
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantI am happy to announce that “majesty carrauntuohill” won gold (swpp). Happy – A golden moment of Nature it was- for sure.
miki gParticipanthermanParticipantGreat work! Love the first one…Congrats :-)
I love mountains myself, but always find it hard to show on the pictures exactly what I see and all these emotions I sometimes feel…
I was going to climb up the Carrauntuohill but unfortunately didn’t have a chance so far :-(
This photograph really deserves to win.wesleylawMember
