Wishing everybody a blessed year. Cheers,
Madeleine*
About the image: yesterday the moon was surrounded by a rainbow aurora – magical.
The historical building is the Old Oratory Gallery in Cahirciveen.johnson76ParticipantMany Happy Returns Madeline…
Nice picture – the moon is amazing this last week now on the clear night – partial lunar eclipses and clarity… unreal

5faytheParticipantHi Madeleine,
Thanks for the good wishes.
May you and yours have a happy and peaceful 2010.The moon has indeed been very interesting this last while and this
image is also very interesting.I have never seen a rainbow like this around the moon.
For that alone the image would be worthwhile.
The setting, I think, suits.Just for the sake of discussion what would you think of the image if
it were cropped to just above the dark tracked area?
I think it make for a nice alternative composition.
Maybe I think too much. :?Cheers.
John.
aoluainParticipantHi Madeleine,
happy new year to you also.Well I have seen this rainbow effect around the moon before
but never captured it, well done it is beautiful.I would probably follow Johns suggestion on cropping more off the bottom
I think the tracks are not really doing much to enhance the scene.SALCONMemberhappy new year to you!
i love your shot
really fabulous love the lighting and colours
miki gParticipantHi Madeleine. Happy new year. I can’t see the image so can’t really comment on it. The rainbow aurora which surrounds the moon occassionally is formed due to ice crystals in the air refracting the light.
BMParticipantMadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantsorry guys, i messed with my flickr account- just noticed now that the image went missing. so back on track.
Regarding the crop – yes i think the same – usually i see more than 1 cropotions for an image. I decided this version because i am quite attached to the tree shadows which tell the story of night and also support the mystical “scary” mood of this place. I defenetly will crop the image as suggested for my gallery. thanks for your lovely feedback and wishes!
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantmiki: thanks for the explanation – i was searching for it as i never saw that before. This was a bitter cold night – so many ice crystals for creating magic in the air ( ;
