Suprising what can be done! Anyone from the Celbridge club will recognise when this was taken.

 I can’t believe that shot .. it looks great :) your composition on this one is spot on imo, I like your chosen Depth of field .. I think a little more work to bring out the eyes and you’ve nailed it .

    Thanks folks!

For the tech heads, it’s a 5d with a 135mm lens, stopped down to F2.8. Manual mode, 1/160 of a second on a tripod. Spot metering, but I pretty much ignored it and used the histogram on repeated shots to get the exposure I liked. As it happens it’s a little hot and i’ve blown out a little down along his nose.

If you dont mind me asking, which 135 mm lens are you using? If it is the f2 I would like to know what you think about it. I have an opportunity to buy one second hand hopefully. Looks like it worked a treat here anyroad.

    Yup, 135 F2.0 L lens.

Scary sharp bit of kit. In fact, that picture does’nt do it justice as I was using manual focus and I dont think I focused exactly where I had thought I was focusing, not the lenses fault.

Very happy with mine, but find I very rarely use it. For gig’s it’s the mutts nutts.

Ah I love desklamps. Theyre actually great lights for photography.

Anyway, thats a great shot. Exposure is really good!

Very good idea and bw conversion. I think, the headscarf is too loose, it looks like it will fall of in a second and yeah, the focus is not really on the eyes. Still, this could be a great shot with minimal work!
