1D mark 1 or 40D

Love some educated advice.
a good condition mark1 -1D or a new 40D body?
which is a better investment.Will the 1D work with my existing softwear on my (mac osX)
I really will appreciate heads up.

The only reason I can think of for choosing the 1D would be the better focusing system. Personally I would go for the 40D.
40d, the original 1d i think would be worse in every way-though it looks cooler
40D for sure. Technology has moved so far since the original 1D. Image quality will be noticeably higher. Unless, as Steve noted, you need the better focusing system. If you do, then save a few more quid for a 1D Mk II. They can be got around £800 now.

I have had both and would say 1d all the way. Better build, better AF, weather sealing, and 4mp is plenty and results in nice usable files.
4mp is enough if you’re printing at a4 or less- even then you need ps interpolation
Many people dont find themselves printing nowadays I find, and for web, email and 8×10’s (I’ve printed NEF’s up to 20×30 with Genuine Fractals) 4mp is plenty.
true-though personally i find a camera pointless unless the pictures are on a 24″ print- but thats just me and each to their own
