    Hi,

Just a couple of shot from when I first got my 105mm Macro VR lens. Taken bright and early on a Sunday morning at between 10 and 11 a.m. (can’t believe I was out and about that early on a Sunday morning, I must have been really excited about my new lens).

The place was chock-a-block with those flys that morning, I don’t think I’ve had such a wealth of subjects since.

Feedback most welcome. Thanks for lookin’,

    Alan

fantastic detail and colour in the first shot. Second is good also. I just love macro and bugs and stuff.

First one is incredible. Love the DoF and the razor sharp detail with all those wonderful colours.

#1 is really nice Alan, detail and dof are spot on for my eye and it is nicely composed
#2 the dof is just a little too shallow for me though your focus point is dead on……./Mikka

The sharpness and depth of field in those photos are amazing but the colour is the best thing about them :) The green metallic look on the fly in the first photo is very attractive…I would concur with DaveMurdoch on the reaction to those photos…I will start looking into macro lenses from now on!! :)

Thanks very much for the very positive feedback one and all.

…and thank you Connie for the nomination for photo of the month.

Mikka, I agree about number 2 – I’d have liked a little more depth of field in this. With a slightly smaller aperture and without the stray bit of foliage at the front this would have been much improved, I think.
