Is there any other forum you might be interested in at all ?
Sounds not very polite, but okay, I promise to leave this forum.
CoveyParticipantNo need to leave at all. Maybe take the advice about editing already offered a while back.
stevebMemberThey dont do it for me I’m afraid. The term documentary & street in the title is quite a stretch – they are just nice pictures of snow in low light. You see, its documentary of you portrayed a story or narrative, or street if, in the words of one better than I, you can literally/almost smell the street coming from the picture (paraphrased obviously).
But dont leave, what Covey is saying I think, (and I share his sentiment) is just work harder if you want to get good street shots. No need to post every shot you take. We all check in here regularly on the off chance somebody has posted a “cracker”, but its deflating when all we get is what should be somebodys reject basket (for the category of street & documentary anyway).robmgraMemberquite the ignorant little cunt arent ye covey?
id love to see the advise that you, as professionals have given this person on improving his or her street shots as you believe they should be taken.
asking someone to leave the forum?
no wonder this place is so dead, and trust me, it is dead, when i first registered there was alot more posters, but there was the regular head honchos who treated the new members like shitty little outsiders and gave little too no help.
i see not alot has changed.
and id just logged in too share a few shots. wont bother now, incase covey asks me too fuck off to a different forum.
davedunneParticipantIn my opinion, the problem with these photos is that the subject matter is not interesting, at least to me (#2, 3, 4 especially).
The last one does have a subject but I don’t think the composition does it justice. The flash (?) has illuminated the fence in foreground to the left so that is where the eye is drawn.
Also, I find the reflected snow caught in the flash to be distracting.
DedalusParticipantWow, some very heated comments there, amazing things oponions, I think with a bit of thought there is some images to be had out of the collection.
Perhaps a crop of the snowman in the first shot and a tight crop of the light head and cables in the fourth would make an interesting image.
We should be careful how we crit peoples work, I’m sure they are uploaded with the best of intentions and the assumption that they will be constructively criticised. I know when you present an image or series of images you’ve got to have a hard neck and take the good with the bad, but when C&C is putting other people off uploading images for review well then there’s something wrong…shutterbugParticipantI think the first shot is about the best of the set, as for the section it should go in
I think I would have probably put it here aswell, the rest of the set are a bit on the
nondescript side with not much of interest in them, however I hope Covey hasnt put
you off posting, we all had to start somewhere and it would be a pity if one persons
thoughtless comments put you off going further. Though I do think that he didnt
mean join another forum just is street your only interest in photography?MarkKeymasterCovey – There are much clearer and better ways of explaining yourself to a poster on the site than the way you felt you needed to. Especially when english might not be the persons native language. If he has left, its very very unfortunate and not what PI is about !
robmgra – I agree with just ‘some’ of your comments. Name calling is out of order though.
Covey’s type of comment is extremely rare and are not widespread on PI as you’re making out, this is a fact. I should know as either I or one of the moderators would read all the posts here on PI. If you frequent PI regularily (perhaps you do) then you’ll also know that the members who would have been seen as unhelpful and a distruption no longer visit the site, ie they have been banned. In general members come and go and return again, its the nature of all forums.
Feel free to PM me if you wish as I will gladly discuss the site at length, facebooks impact to all forums including this one and any concerns you have.
