Forgive me for naive question, but I couldn’t resist. :)
What is the role of the chicken during engagement photoshoot?

If you will look on those 2 photos as one, it might help ?

    :):)Hmm sorry for this.
Try to find best explanation, it is metaphore for man and woman :
hen is a woman, bull is a man.
When i come to Carol house hen was there it belongs to Carol, i found those animals funy and they are posing well also:)
so i take shot before we left for session and after i start looking for something what can i use to describe a man and i get bull. That is story of hen and bull :)

i really like the hen, its a great shot and one that I’m sure will mean a lot to her (the bride to be not the hen :) ) I will admit I didnt get that the bull was a bull till you said it though, he’s a wee bit too small in the frame and any identifying features are not visible

still though, I really like the idea and I’m sure being good country folk they will too. Really stunning set of images overall by the way, your style is beautiful.

Don’t really get the whole concept…wonky horizons, flare, halos, blown out highlights and in No.8 it looks as if the man is trying to drive his head through the girls head…not a great look…and in No.10 the girl looks as if her nose was painted white…and the man is out of focus as well…sorry for sounding so harsh but If I was the man in these photos I wouldn’t be one bit pleased to be given these as my engagement photos.

Sorry to disagree Isabella but how you ccould call these a stunning set of photos is beyond me.

I believe the forum rules state that one is not supposed to critique the critique. if this was the first time you had done it too me i would refrain from mentioning it. I am entitled to my opinion as are you.

A little bit harsh on that critique Noel, there is some worthy images there that im sure the groom to be would be delighted with especially the more interative shots of the walking along the beach with the vintage tone (12a) & 13.

The rest are really just let down due to some aspects such as the high sun in their faces causing heavy contrast shadows and harsh lighting, maybe somewhere with open shade along the beach(if any) and fill in flash would have helped,i often used to bring a big disc reflector to act as a scrim when in area i couldnt hide from the sun.

The reflector here to act as fill would have helped you enormously to open up those shadows.
I love the concept but maybe less is more. Yes the horizons are not straight but thats easily fixed. The flare in 8 is too severe by dropping your position & filling in with some fill would have solved this but the right hand image is sweet.

In 10 maybe a higher value aperature would have brought more detail back into her face as its quite shallow its making her features a little lost but the image overall is good.

    Hope this helps.

    Brownie ,
We had totally different style of photography. I understand and respect you does not get idea of my photography style, but I have respect and think you should have also, for people like Isabella, as not everybody like back to 90s style posing photos, shot with flash.
I’m not shooting against light because…. i shoot as i like to get efects like above.
This engagement session will be featured soon in one of most popular wedding blog in Ireland (i let you know when go live) as they found it quirky and valuable for todays style of photography.
    To give you some explanation:
There is 1000 …photographers producing same standard photos without anything new (good or bad) . I do not know exactly what is reason:
They can not? are they afraid? do not want to? they have no idea what they would like to change? And finaly most of time no creativity (i do not want to say i have all or part of it). I tried to do somthing to dicribe my style and what make my photos stand out from others.
Maybe i’m not on right way, but as i see my photography is growing by over 400% compare to last year (it looks like there is room for this kind of photography here)
And to be honest i’m happy there is some “fire” when we discuss about this photos, as it states they are different (even if not technicaly good)
Brownie, thank you for your point of view, it is always valuable to know what other photographers are thinking about our photos.
