my girlfriend says if i keep trying to photo her she’ll wrap my camera round my throte. LOL. :) :)
constantineParticipantIs she wearing welding gloves or something?
Either that or she has massive hands. I think the sepia is a tad too strong, but personally, the picture does nothing for me.
ciaranParticipantPhotoshop when you start using it is such an amazing tool, with so many effects, plug-ins, filters etc. But I’m of the opinion that just because something can be done in photoshop, doesn’t mean it should be done. It’s great that you’re enjoying your photos and enjoying playing with photoshop, but I don’t think that photoshop can take an average shot and make it great.
Photography wise, I think you’ve done well to expose for the subject and make her stand out from the croud. Again, like your last shot, she’s reasonably soft. Watch out for your shutter speed and camera shake when taking shots like this. Also, if you can, spend time looking through the view finder, not at what you want in the shot, but at what you don’t want. There’s an awful lot of distractions, especially the blown highlights (white spots) in the top of the frame. Getting in much closer and filling the frame with only your subject would have helped lots.
As for the processing, I’m afraid I’d also have to agree that the sepia toning is way over cooked.
gerardkParticipantI like this shot – its a good fun kind of picture imo. I think the processing suits the picture – I wouldnt be a fan of it as a style but for this picture it suits it quite well. I like the blurred background and the busy lights everywhere – the girls smile makes it work imo, also the figure behind her at the bar adds a lot to to the 30’s look and feel of it. If the bar figure had been cropped out it might lose some of its appeal.
