35mm/120mm film Reel

I have a Universal film development tank which came with one reel and I purchased a second one. Now I thought the reels were adjustable. I have a 120mm film I want/need to develop soon. How do you adjust the reels I’ve tried almost everything except banging them with a hammer. :?

If it’s not possible, where’s the best place/shop to purchase said reel (I’m in Waterford)

    Thanks

Hold the reel tight in two hands,
then rotate the left reel away from you, and the right reel towards you,
    and they should unlock-
then you can adjust them for 120-

I always wondered where hell was,
    so thanks for sharing

Try holding the reel with one hand on each side as if you were winding the film into the reel. Get a good grip on each side and twist the left side of the real down and the right side of the reel up, give it a bit of pressure and it should snap out and you should be able to widen the real for the 120 film

Hope the above makes sense :?

Martin is right, I got my directions wrong-
however, you can still use my instructions for putting it back together-

Silly question but what do you define as left side of the reel or right side of the reel??? :?

It won’t make a difference, just twist as advised.
