Noely FParticipant
Overhead today in the spring sun, the most I’ve seen. Probably a family group.
joe_elwayParticipantCool. I felt lucky just to see 1. You know, we need a bunch of 1000mm lenses. Seeing as an election is around the corner, think we can get our local representatives to cough up the glass?
:-)
ExpresbroParticipantMust be lots of super nervous rabbits around right now. Those guys seem to be multiplying…
GoosebankerParticipantMust have been fantastic to watch this, lucky bugger! Some achievement to get the 4 in 1 shot.
I seem to be seeing these more regularly, but then I tend to watch out for birds now, whereas up to about 18 months ago I never looked up! Any proper “birders” out there have a more informed opinion? They are also fairly large birds, do they live in big nests, ie: fairly visible, or do they nest out of sight somewhere?
shutterbugParticipantNoely you must live in bird paradise!! You always get great birdy shots, do you
sit in the garden all day camera in hand :)ExpresbroParticipantOf course not….he lies on his back in the garden all day with camera in hand…
MarkKeymasterQuite like the first one. But the rest just aren’t sharp enough to be honest.
Mark
Noely FParticipantOk….I know they’re not sharp…..they were posted as a “Look what I saw” boast  Wait ’til I get an F1.8 2000mm zoom
with VR…..then you’ll see :lol:John GriffinParticipantGoosebanker wrote:

Well spotted Noely, buzzards were extinct in Ireland, basically they were all shot and poisoned, when the poison strychnine was banned in this country it was the start of the return of the Buzzard, about 10 years ago, They flew over from Scotland and nested in N.Ireland and from Wales to Wicklow. They have spread throughout the country in the last 5 years and their numbers are growing steadily, Wicklow is one of the strongholds of the buzzard and it has a very healty population. We are doing research on them at the moment so if anybody sees a bird with yellow or red tags on the wings with a letter of the alphabet or finds any dead birds please let me know, it would be very helpful! They build massive big nests in dense forests high in the canopy and they are not easy to find. Seeing as these photos are not for critque and this is more of a Buzzards info session, i’ll stick in some of my work shots.
Hope your all enjoying your day at work, I have to go out and spend the rest of the feckin day counting ducks and geese
John (the Ranger)
joe_elwayParticipantI’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… you’ve a cool job, John. Really cool shots.
