This is one of my first photos, its a place where I live. It was late at night, and I tried to capture the moon in all its detail, but I don’t think my 18-55 mm lens was able for it. Can anybody recommend how to capture the moon with its details, do I need a new lens?

The specs I used are as follows: APERTURE f/8, FOCAL LENGTH 36mm, SHUTTER SPEED 4s. I then developed it further in photoshop.

    regards,

Whatever about trying to capture the moon’s detail (I’m no expert I’m afraid), I love this shot, as study in urban scenes.

The detail of the building, and little islands of light (pity there isn’t a figure at one of the windows!) are just lovely!

Also, the contrast between the two halves of the shot is striking – the contrast with the “vagueness” of the sky and the moon works well.

If you managed to improve the moon detail, AND captured some figures in the buildings – now that would be an exceptional shot!

    Well done!

Thank you ss! I must give it another go some other time, a figure would set it off nicely!

Interesting as ss says. I remember once being on holidays and sitting in the balcony watching some local’s apartments across in the distance.
Was fascinating to watch them cook, drink and chat. This reminds me of that very much.
