4×5 development
-
ColemanromanParticipant
As my previous queries indicate I have been looking for info regarding 4X5 photography.
I have yet another question which has probably been covered elsewhere but I thought I’d ask directly as there are a multitude of answers on the web with differing results and preferances.
I will be devolping 4×5 at home and have been considering the ‘mod 54’ patterson tank (6 sheet) insert.I have read of issues with sheets becoming dislodged which is unfortunate as pricewise it’s a great solution.
What would people recommend when devoping 4×5 ? equipment wise.I currently develop medium format.
Thanks a million.
thefizzParticipantThe feedback I got from anyone who purchased the MOD54 from me has been very positive. I have not used it myself so have no personal experience.
I’m wondering if excessive agitation is causing the film to come loose as you describe.
IsabellaParticipantI have used what is described as ;the taco method’ with excellent success and therefore no need to be buying expensive extra equipment. it would not work well using x-ray film or something like that but i have not had any trouble with scratches etc.
the method is described here:

in text – http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?30099-New-idea-Inexpensive-daylight-Softube-processing-of-sheet-filmit can also be done in trays although this requires total darkness it is not at all difficult with a little preparation.
ColemanromanParticipantThe taco method does look very rough and ready, but for that price and if the results are without flaw,it’s no brainer.
My only fear is f**king it up myself.I would need to practice on some sheets in daylight to make sure there are no mishaps. Thanks for the links.Very straight forward.
Both suggestions suit my daylight developing intentions too.
mmm…
