50s Hollywood – help needed

I need some help: had a shoot today with my missus in a 50s Hollywood style I’ve been wanting to try. I’d like to submit one of the following as my second entry into a portrait comp. But I can’t decide which one, so opinions would be very much appreciated. And I would also like to convert to B&W, but not happy with the one I’ve tried, so any tips? Oh, and the deadline is Tuesday, so I’m cutting it tight…
And the above in black and white…
AnonymousParticipantMy interpretation of a portrait is from the shoulders up?
In my view none of these fullfill the criteria.
You appear to have been above the model rather than at eye level
& the background in these images is not good.
If you don’t mind me saying I would start again!sndipoMemberNearly agree to everything said above. The fact that you’ve tried to take the picture on the view of looking down..I would think that women that time were elegant and had good..stance. In all fairness, the model seems to be slouching in the last photo! If you wanna give it that classy 50s look, then try more Elizabeth Taylor look alright (not exact copy), straight shot, chin up, maybe leaning on something with the elbows and long sleeved gloves would be a nice touch! Look up similar women’s shots from that era maybe you’ll get a better idea- but after all, she was the diva at that time! Also Marilyn Monroe! Different photos from that time will give you an idea if you haven’t shot anything like it before.
Think B&W would suit better to this theme and shoot. And yes, have to get a tighter shot, portrait would be rather the 1/3rd of the person, starting from the head down :) Hope you get your shot by the deadline!tsergairlMemberIMO
different light (strip softbox + snoot)
different background (dark)and some work in Photoshop (or equivalent) if You use PS, than plugin “Silver Effex Pro” is very helpful
