Congrats Richie,
Collected mine on Monday.Don’t want to scare you but……
Have you seen this thread about sensor issues http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1032&message=30222755Mine is displaying the same artifacts even at ISO 100 but you really need to pixel peep.
I haven’t tried a RAW file yet as I can’t use DPP very well.I think the image you posted would be perfect to see if they are present on your one.
Looks like a bag of bolts.
Sure, you can always use it as a video camera

Ha! was talking about that with someone else the other day, they kept on going on about the video functions and I was like “dude, just buy a bloody video camera then!”
BMParticipantI agree. I don’t want to pay for technology that adds absolutely nothing. No doubt there’s plenty in my 40D that I haven’t learnt about yet, but it’s there for photography. If I wanted video, I’d use a camcorder (and do, for the kids’ parties, holidays, etc.).

nfl-fanParticipantThere seems to be a lot of discontent about the place with the new 5D MKII.
Another Example:

guthrijParticipantThese reports of “problems” are being discussed on the EOS Forum.
I suspect that they are over reactions but it is not surprising that the 5D MkII is under scrutiny when Canon’s last truly new products (1D MkIII and 1Ds MkIII) had serious problems.
richiehatchMemberI have to say that the rubbish about these ‘black spots’ flying around the net at the moment
is sooooo over the top. I mean most of the time they cant be viewed on screen until the image
is viewed at 200-400%….!!!!! Yes my camera exhibits the same symptoms. Am I bothered…..???
Not in the least. I bought a tool to do a job and it does it exceedingly better than I imagined it could
have. A lab printed off an image for me at 18x12inchs that was shot at 6400 ISO and there is
hardly any noise visible let alone black dots. So yes Guthrij… they most definitely are over reactions.
So many people are worried how their images look at pixel level yet hardly know how to expose,
compose or even take a shot.Anyway… its a great camera… NFL… dont worry about this BS (bull sh*t / black spots). You will be over
the moon with it!Richie
nfl-fanParticipantAnother funny…

Sorry… but this is getting a bit scary.
richiehatchMember‘Tis bullshit also….!!! Just like the 5D ye basically run the sensor cleaning with
the lens and lens cap on and it remaps out the bad/hot pixels with no evidence
left behind..!
I had the same thing with my 5D…! Again nothing to worry about…Did ye get a date for delivery of your Mark 2 yet…???
R
nfl-fanParticipantI haven’t ordered it.. was planning on ordering from a stockist in the UK on Thursday with a view to having it next week.
To be honest though Ritchie… why should one dish out €2.5k and then be expected to run sensor cleaning with the lens cap on? Would you buy a new car and then go home and change the oil?
Sloppy by Canon.. really sloppy.. and it doesn’t instill confidence in prospective buyers.
guthrijParticipantMore chat about the 5D MkII.

nfl-fanParticipantI’ll still order it… but will have a certain sense of un-easiness about the camera for a while. The Black Dot anomalie sounds like something that a firmware patch might address given that it is setting related.
BMParticipantIt’s like a red light saber – you k now you shouldn’t do it but the attraciton is too strong. It’s still going to be a stonking camera.
nfl-fanParticipantWell… if I wasn’t already invested in Canon I know for sure I’d be going the Nikon D700 or D3 route.

But we move into new houses that cost 100’s of times more and have to have snag lists
completed…! Bain of my life I tell ye…!!!! haha…!To be honest I agree with ye in general but these “problems” always appear when a new
camera arrives (altough maybe a bit more from Canon :? ). No doubt a firmware fix will
appear and will make everything rosy and hopefully then we can concentrate on getting
out there and taking pictures…!God I sound shockin defensive…! Honestly I’m not. Just sick of this pixel peeping…!!!
