5×4 Processing..
-
AmyParticipant
Hey guys,
Need the use of ur amazing brains for a moment, Im a 2nd year photography student and I am currently in the middle of a very frustrating 5×4 project. We havent a technician in the darkrooms in college anymore cuz of cutbacks and the jobo and everythin are causing problems recently. Because of the amount of film i use in 5×4 (very little) and how important it is to me in every neg (very) is there anywhere in dublin that does 5×4 processing?
It would be nice to take a bit of stress off my shoulders and to know my lovely negs and being processed with no problems.
Let me know if you know anywhere that does it, otherwise I gotta risk it and go for it and maybe end up forking out lots of money for more film and making my project more rushed :(
Best of luck with your photo making,
Amy x :) xCormacParticipantI would think that Gunn’s of Wexford Street could take care of that – I just got my first batch of 120 processed there.
You will find an enormous amount of support for Gunn’s, they’re a one-of-a-kind family operation that are a pleasure to deal with.Cormac
AmyParticipantI know they are amazing there, didnt no they did 5×4 processing thou!
Ill call up to them tomorrow to ask, have to get film anyways!
Thanks for reminding me :)CormacParticipantBest of luck with your course – if you’re freelancing while studying, let me know – I’m trying to give press work to PI members at the moment.
Cormac
AmyParticipantTHAT WOULD BE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

fair play to you.
very nice to hear such news, especially in days like today.
again, in this website there is much more than what one can see from the outside.jb7ParticipantSo much wrong here…
Not sure Gunns process 4×5, though maybe they do-
I don’t use Jobo drums myself, so I can’t help you there,
but you can process 4×5 in a Paterson tank,
which I’m sure you’re more comfortable with-Have a look at this-

Film doesn’t have to be expensive,
it’ll be a lot less than paying someone else to process it for you-Try this one- about 50ยข a sheet-
processing could be 7 or 8 times that-http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120422220493&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I’ve used it, and it works-
perfectly good for learning on-Hope it all goes well-
davekeoghParticipantGives conn’s camera a call. They do my 120 film, and they do a better job then I do :D
Scan to CD as well for about 20 euro I think.
randomwayMemberI asked Gunns before, they didn’t process 4×5 at the time, not even b/w.
As JB said, processing in a Jobo tank is basically same as with 120 or 35mm film… talking about black and white of course. You can use this chart as a guideline, the 120 values are not far off most of the time. http://www.digitaltruth.com/chart/print.html
Dermot1Participantrepro 35 on merion square the best place in Dublin for 4×5 but they only do it on certain days of the week, you could try tube or tank processing yourself.
thefizzParticipantEddieParticipantPhotolabs in Lennox St near Portabello will do 5*4 processing, they are a profession lab and do top quality work.
