Hi, just a project I’m working on. Haven’t done any photography before and was wondering if you could let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks!

These are the ones I’ve finished.

EDIT: I’ve added the updated version of Gluttony. Let me know if you think it’s any better :

Not the best but the best of what i shot that day

I see where your going, but you might want to go a little more extreme. In the second one, more cake messed all over the model might help.

Photographically, the first image is fine, but the second has too many distractions – the corner and bottom of the curtains. Your aiming for the subject being the thing, so keep all other subjects out. If you used a narrow DOF, or specific lighting, you might have away effect.

I would prefer the first image if the gate behind her was straight/horizontal and also her face looks a little too photoshopped (it could just be the light) but it doesn’t look as real as her legs.
I do like the colours though.
From a style point of view the shoes look too big for her.

I really like the girl in the second one and esp. her make up.
I would have put a little more chocolate around her mouth (it’s on either side of her lips but not ON her lips which is kind of strange) and I would have gotten rid of the curtain in the background as it quite eye-catching.

I’d clone the bottom of the walls so they look a little neater and clone out the shine on the paint near the bottom of the wall.

But there is a lot about the second shot I really like.
I prefer it to the first one.

1st one looks more like lust than wrath….

2nd one needs some messy food…

    Nice concept though

I thought the first might have been lust as well.
As said before, second has some distractions.
Like the concept though, stick with it.

Thanks guys…. And thanks for your suggestions pihjin. I’ll definitely put them in practise. I really like the second shot too. As for the confusion about the first shot being Lust, I think if you saw the set you would see the difference but I do agree that the pose perhaps is a little too like lust and not wrathfull enough.

I had a think about this in the shower this morning :)

Wrath to me would be symbolised by her screaming, messy hair, smudged makeup, hands covered in “blood” and holding a hammer.

Ha…. would have loved to do that. Same with the gluttony one. Would have loved to throw food all over her. One thing though…. the dresses were borrowed from Sasha for the day and don’t think they’d appreciate blood all over them ha. As for the screaming…. god I wish I could have gotten that girl to scream. But they are not professional models. Just school kids, so I am very happy with what they produced for me. :) Thanks for thinking about my shots in the shower though…. I’m really very happy about that ;)

just to update this, I’m speaking to a few ‘models’ this week to try this out.

I’m not a big fan of the backgrounds for these shots. You might try to green screen the work and drop in a different background.

Hey Anakoz! I’ve just finished an assignment of images for college based on the seven deadly sins!

I used white and black plain backgrounds. It was great fun. I tried lots of full length shots but I ended up with some closeups capturing the character of the sins instead, and of course, using minimal props. The key for me was the makeup and hair too, which you’re using…I had a makeup artist do the makeup and the hair done by trainee hairdressers. It made a huge difference!

For the first one wrath…I agree with Major…I think you need really messy hair. And need to see some kicking or fists or something. Maybe use a wide angle lens so that you can emphasize the fists/feet kicking? Using big bulky boots or I like the idea of the whip though. I would have a midlength of her holding it with fists and a scrunched up face. Dark eye makeup makes this shot look dramatic too. The outfit and props work but your model needs to get angry!

I love the idea of your gluttony. I like the guilty look on your model’s face.

The third one lust is a good idea but I think that the first pose works more. Remember lust involves the obsessive or excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature. So you don’t necessarily have to include a man…Just a thought.

    Keep going! It’s looking good:0)
