Hate to burst your bubble Ben but the Canon Zoom Super Wide Angle EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Autofocus won’t work on your Canon EOS-1DS Mark II, hope the 16-35 wouldn’t put you over budget :)
FintanParticipantI’d spend it on some unpaid leave. Time is the thing my photography suffers from lack of. But you did say camera equipment so I’d say a Hasselblad Flextight film scanner.

Have to agree with Fintan, the gear is not important making the time to create the images is what i would spend the money on. A month in Ansel Adams territory and a month on Japan.

Would agree with Fintan and Eddie and the proof being that i am currently on three months unpaid leave from work and its costing around 8 grand. Been to the US, Corsica, Poland and Slovakia so far (taken about 4000 shots), happy days would recommend taking unpaid leave to anyone, do it while your young don’t wait until retirement to take quality time out for yourself you only have one life:-) Of course if you have a family taking time out might not be an option but if you don’t have one get out and see the globe

neilmcshaneParticipantThanks for all the comments.
Very interesting to see what people would buy.
Yes I did say photo equip, but if I could I would have to agree with Fintan, Eddie and Martin on a few months unpaid leave and just shoot shoot and shoot all day long.
I have made my mind up as to what I will buy.Regards Neil
