A Bugs Life

Well as you all know i’m a macro virgin. This is literally my first shot so em… here’s hoping you like it :)

It’s a cracker Ali. I think you’ll find that it actually is a bug, whereas most of the things we call bugs are just other insects.
Technically I’m in no position to offer critique because my macro photos are always frustratingly bad. I think I’d have tried to get more contrast into his face, but maybe evolution doesn’t agree with me!
What bug? Oh sugar there it is :)
Excellent Ali. Not much point in trying to “bring him out” as that would have kinda defeated the purpose.

SodaLol, thx guys. I went for a stroll along the river yesterday for 2 miles and got zero :) – learned my lesson.
So I settled for 20 metres up the garden today :)Interesting about the walk. I brought a stool, a monopod and the camera out to the garden and sat in the one spot for over an hour. It’s amazing the hive of activity that is going on around us and we don’t notice it. It wont help me get rid of the gut though :?
Tell me about it :) I’m back at the gym now to get my fitness back… my penance for sitting on my tod all day :).
Lovely fella….Shield bug it is….God , I sound like Yoda :lol: I’d agree with the notion that the best shots can sometimes be found outside your door…It’s a jungle out there :wink:
Ali, the background is nice soft green and the insect has its details but all together does not work for me. Because the composition.
It *almost* works for me – the bug is just a BIT too far to the right.
:D i know, it bugs me too (pun intended :D) – that was as far as i could go without ruining the colour scheme – Dammit :D.
