A dawg’s life

He’s a bit mental but not exactly “wildlife” … alomost human but wouldn’t quite count as “people” .. but definately he’s more than “everything else” :)

This is homer, my lovely yellow labby .. I was bored and decided to torture him while experimenting with flash.. he’s a surprisingly patient and telented model :)

I’d be interested in seeing other attempts at “Pet portraits” if anyone has done them .. I saw Johnny McMillans ones of his firends dog Sam (they are just Super)

Its a goofy kind of a shot .. but I’d still love any C&C ye can offer :D

    Thanks

Lovely shot Lo, your Homer is a lot more camera friendly than my Cleopatra ( also a lab )
If i come near her with camera she bolts out the door. She is terrified of the thing.
Heres a shot of Tiger, my cat.

    Awww..he’s such a dote Lorraine..but I already told ya that :D

Nice idea actually…do a thread with peoples pets…seem to remember some really great pet shots from a while back, a really great Iguana shot comes to mind.

C& C wise it’s a lovely shot, but I’m sure you’re well aware of the blown highlights on his head, one of the hazards of that lovely golden coat of his I bet :D

He has a lovely expression on his face and I love the framing.

Must try and root out a shot or two of our cats…all 5 of them…and they adopted us..not the other way around..

Gorgeous dog LoGirl, and a very nice shot too. A little more dof would
help this though I think as the business end of this lovely animal is
very slight soft and out of focus, which is a pity.
I do remember there was a thread somewhere with pictures of all our
pets, and Ciaran posted a portrait of Homer there too if my memory is
serving me as it should. Must see if I can locate it and revisit. Must also
take some new pics of my own two girls, Jaz and Holly…

Ahh yes :) Thanks a million guys .. I’d forgotten all about that thread :) (You have memories like elephants – i believe they never foget .. according to kitkat :) ) Loads of cuteness there ..

Graham: That is such a cute photo .. I love the crop and the DoF .. just yummy :) thanks for that
Robbie : the highlight areas aren’t actually blown. there’s still detail there but I see where you’re coming from.. 5 Cats ..
Rob : I have to agree with you about the Dof .. I’d prefer to have had more of his snout in sharp focus .. i often miss with that .. it frustrates me  ALOT . In terms of the business end.. why, thats tucked neatly down the cushion of the sofa.. just the way he likes it :D ( very cute dogs by the way )

    Thanks a million … I might play around again later .. if he’ll co-operate

I know!! We never actively went out to get a “pet”…the first guy just started hanging around our garden and eventually started to feed him a little…and then this teeny little kitten crawled out from under our garden shed one day, obviously abandoned by it’s mother, so what could we do..and us being clueless didn’t realise about kitty love…and before long she was preggers and had 5 kitten, 2 of which we managed to find homes for…but the other 3 are still with us.

We never think of them as pets really..they share the house with us.. and sometimes it’s a bloody nuisance….but in another way..it’s like having your own private safari in your back garden watching them learn to hunt and play fight…

so guess we’re stuck with them now… :D

…Odd that. For me, the business end of a dog is its nose. The other end is the ‘none of your business’ end
