A day at the races…

Paid a visit to Navan Racecourse today to continue on with my
50mm project. These are a couple I though worked reasonably well
for me…

:D second one is classic. Maybe a tiny bit faster shutter speed to catch the horses dead in flight and get them a bit sharper but not really improtant for this shot. Ur man scurrying across the track is priceless. Interesting choice of crops as well, I might have cropped out the two horses at the back to get a bit tighter on the action but thats just me.
Nice to see a different take on sports shots like this.

50mm project? All shots taken with a 50mm? Cool idea! I did that for a weekend trip to London and got some stuff I would not otherwise have got, but missed too much to try it again.
What’s the story on the last one – were they riding out, or was he running around during the race? Prey tell!

My week is up now and I’ve got my full kit with me again, but it was certainly an
interesting exercise to restrict myself to a single focal length like that, manual focus
too. I didn’t manage to get an image for each critique forum, but I suppose eight
out of fifteen wasn’t too bad…As for that second image, this was taken during an actual race, just before the
finishing post, with the photographer legging it out of the way just in time…Rob.
