A Duck Hunt…

…but it was the ducks that were doing the hunting!! This was taken down by Carne, or more specifically the lake at the back of Our Ladys Island. JohnC24 was out for the evening so we ventured to where only beasts and mad men venture. These mallards took a liking to us, either that they were drinking the green water and were a little mental but they made a couple of charges…then fell short of a full out attack.

    Looks good Alan-
    What lens is that?

There’s some softening on the right that looks a little odd,
    or am I imagining it-

No Joseph – your imagination is fine, I’m sure. The effect looks too severe here but I have been looking of late at the images of Nick Brandt. You’ve probably heard of him – he shoots in film but adds his signature processing in Photoshop. From what I can make out he reduces contrast and uses selective burning to bring out the detail again. He also uses selective blurring and vignetting. I find it interesting but maybe my subject matter may carry the effect better.

The lens was the Sigma 10-20mm.

I’m not getting into it either. But Nick does sell his images for $3,000 each so that may be “debate over”.
