One of my friends at the christening on Sunday heard I was taking shots of the family and asked me to do one of them
This is my attemptAnd the kids messing the wee lad said to me ”dont worry i know how to work the camera”
kenhParticipantHi Cathal,
the lighting and background are excellent, but the strongest feature is how relaxed the family are!
Lovely portraits!BallymanParticipantHi Cathal. I don’t have much portrait experience but I think these are a little too orange or something. The skin seems to be oversaturated to the point that it has turned orange. It could be my monitor as well of course but it was calibrated recently. Others may like it but it’s not for me I’m afraid.
Also, in the first pic it would be better if the girl sitting on her fathers knee had her dress pulled over her left knee a little more.
The lighting and the poses look spot on though. They look very relaxed.
jb7ParticipantI’d agree about the colour, in these and the others-
Part of the problem is that they’re posted in Adobe RGB,
but the colour is even more orange when viewed in a browser that supports colour profiles-BallymanParticipantI just looked at these in IE and the colour looks more natural but in Firefox there is some serious oompa loompa colouring going on.
I had this problem myself before. Is there anyway to export photos so that they look the same in IE and Firefox?? And which progtam is displaying the correct colour if I was go print the photos??

I use IE and they dont look to bad but my screen is not calibratedCathal
jb7ParticipantThey should be posted in sRGB for display on the internet-
in ps, go to edit- colour settings- convert to profile, and choose sRGBColour still looks very warm, even when viewed in photoshop-
According to your exif, you’re using auto white balance, a bit of a risk-
you should probably do a custom white balance when doing a series of shots like this,
or choose one that matches your lights-cathaldParticipantThanks for that J
I’ve never done portrait stoots before so the white balance was just set to auto
I was using Seans lights so the next time I have a try with them I will try a few different setting in WBCathal
