i think the first one is a lil fuzzy
C&C welcome
SeaviewParticipantNumber three for me here Spud, I think the sun is a little blown in the first two. Number three would have been a stunning shot for me if the boat had a little more detail. Well captured.
Dave.
lousyParticipantDitto what Spud said, maybe you could get something out of the third.
PatpetercoxMemberAye, #3 is superior to the others, and would be much better if the boat wasn’t so dark.

spudMemberstill a noob at this so not sure how to capture colors in the forground when teh sun is in the bg also.

For shots like #1 and #2, you won’t be able to hold details in the foreground without blowing out the sun and a lot of the sky. Have a look at your camera’s histogram after each shot and it will tell you if this is going to be a problem. If the sky is blowing out, check the left side of the histogram to see if you can darken the image any more without losing the shadows, too. But like I said – when shooting into the sun this is a losing proposition. To do this effectively, you need to either (a) use a graduated neutral density filter to darken the sky and leave the foreground as-is, or (b) take a bracketed set of exposures and use HDR. Or (c) point the camera somewhere else =)

spudMemberlol i did have a filter on but it was a full circle Hoya type. and histograms confuse me ill have to read up on them i supose. as for HDR thats a lil out of my league atm :( somthing i would love to try
PixelleMemberThe first is definitely worth a revisit imo. I much prefer its composition to the other two.
Ah well, out of step again! :)
spudMemberlol yha its my fave too but its not great maby nxt time it will be better.
spudMemberbeen playing around with the bracketing on the camara and it seems easy to use i will defo beusing this nxt time i head over here. thx for the tip pete
