A Lighthouse, a Field and a Bridge!

I’ve been ridiculously lazy taking and posting recently so here are a few I grabbed over the last couple of weeks…Nothing spectacular here but I’d really like to get better at making possibly mundane shots better than they might possibly be at first glance.
Not sure that I’m succeeding though,,,all C+C apreciated…
I know they are maybe a bit oversaturated but I like em like that!!!
5faytheParticipantHi Darran,
I think you have 3 nice images here.
The light falling on the island in #1 is attractive.
The sky is good.
Might be a little too much sea which is a little uninteresting.Nice sky again in #2.
#3 is probably lacking something to make it more interesting but a nice
image nonetheless.John.
BMParticipantNo. 1 is a great image. Great light, great sky and I like teh expanse of water in teh first.
I’m not sold on teh 2nd – maybe needs a larger size. IS tehre a bit of lens/barrel distortion at teh edges ?
I really like teh composition of teh 3rd. The sky and water are great. What time of day was thsitaken?
dar_dParticipantJohn. Thanks for the comments. Id agree there is nothing spectacular in the 3rd image, it’s just “nice” but not interesting really. I dunno about there being too much water, that island is a fair bit out so thats just the way it is in reality so kept it in.
BM. I dont think it’s any distortion, to be honest I’m not 100% sure what you mean! The horizon was just curved like that if thats what you mean..
wesleylawMemberi Like the 3 of them Darren. The lighthouse is clear with no haze which isnt easy to achieve considering how far away it is from where you must have been standing (garryvoe?) Third one i like the glassy effect of the water.

I had a 70-300 at full zoom, its a fair way out alright
richy5497MemberI like them all. Are they HDR’s or just normal shots. I like the processing you’ve done and don’t think they are oversaturated at all. HDR’s have the unnatural ability to really saturate the colour on a photo without making it look overcooked. These look like subtle HDR’s and i think they are normal shots but just well processed. I especially like the first, nice and simple. The third as well is a nice image, a bit like a pleasing painting.
Brian_CParticipantThree crackin’ shots. Beautiful composition in all of them, particularly the last one, I really can’t pick a winner, all very good.
BTW: Is the the second a stitched pano by any chance? Just looking at the tracks at the far right of image makes me think this.
dar_dParticipantRichy – The first two are HDR but the third is a normal shot. Thought they might be overcooked but nice to hear you think they are not
Brian – Nope the second ain’t stitched, it’s just cropped that way.
