…. part of my approach to shooting with models is to warm up and break barriers with some portrait shots… this was taken in my kitchen using natural light .. … i like it .. but you guys go nuts :)

I like this too lorraine, I think her hair makes for a beautiful contrast against the paleness of her skin. I like the lighting too its nice and soft, just a shame about the slightly blown areas on her arm and chest.
It’s lovely and simple, you’re lucky to have such great models and great ability too!

Dont know much about this type of photography but for what its worth here goes my 2 cents…

Very nice honest processing, colours and skin look natural
Think its too tightly framed, would like to see more of her hair, so more left and top
I like the reflection but I cant see enough of it, I would have liked to of seen her full reflection in the window so defo more on the right

O and your window needs to be cleaned :-)

Donna is 40 – could you believe it ????? and way too nice to hold her great looks against her :)

plainoldme – i’d kill for her colouring – so gorgeous isn’t it – cheers for the pointers .. I don’t see any blown highlights in “levels” and print look fine in terms laying down ink so I’m happy there ;)

Martin – yup the crop is tight – had to be though cos I didn’t want to include the garden fence and wheely bins – limitations of using kicthens :D – If i had the space I would habe kept in the full reflection but wasn’t to be – it bugged me but I wasn’t sure if it would irritate anyone else :) as for the windows … don’t make me come over there and hurt you – photography critique I can take – domestic critique is pushing it :D

Colin – thanks a mill .. she told me she is the only one in her family with red hair – and its an amazing colour – flaming ;)

    Thanks again all

believe it or not she wasn’t wearing any make-up

    I do like the picture,
though I’d possibly never think of that framing proportion without having a reason for it-

However, as Martin has mentioned, the cropped reflection is a bit troublesome-

    Perhaps not for a non-photographer,
but I’m left wondering what had to be cropped out of the background-

I think the framing might be a little tight too-
there is always a temptation to get up close,
but maybe slightly looser framing might have helped show more attitude-

Very likeable though, for all that-

A beautiful moment at that, well thought out and captured.

    Beautiful natural portrait…well done.
My suggestion would be to “take the weight off the hand”. This would prevent the chin from being “pushed” up and forming that crease.

Not only the shot but the model as well……

well… for me i think if the bit of her clothing you can see was moved to the side, so it was perhaps hidden by the arm, and not in the reflection, that would be slightly better – though my OH reckons it works better for having the material in there! proves that everyone is different! :)

either way I really love this shot, and have come back to look at it a couple of times now! :D
