A nagging wife is like a dripping tap…

I am doing some photos for Christmas gifts this year, so I wanted to share a few of them.

This is a triptych I did for a friend. I am framing it in one of those trendy frames with 3 holes in one frame…you know the type!

    Comments very welcome!

Love these pictures and brilliant title. I hope you’re not giving them to your wife… could be troubles there.
I tried taking shots like this a couple of weeks back but hey turned out terrible. Mindsharing some tips on your set up?

    Fair play though lovely shots.

    Thanks folks!

    haha no wife yet…

Irishagua – first time giving this a go and I think I hit it lucky! You’ll be glad to know that I took a step back and took a set up shot!

400D with 50 1.8 on tripod at ISO 100, f8, 1/200th. Vivitar 285 flash to camera left on 1/16th power. That’s just a baking tin with a sheet of white paper for fill behind it.

I aimed the tap to drip close to the front of the tin. With the tap gently trickling I manually prefocused. I adjusted the flow of the tap until I got a regular flow of drops – every 5sec, maybe longer. It is important to leave enough time between each drop for the water in the tin to settle again. I sat on a chair beside my camera so that I could see the drop forming under the tap to help with timing! I fired off some shots and checked focus and light. Then I got comfy, got a good flow, and just kept going. It was surprisingly relaxing!!

Hope that helps! Feel free to drop me a PM if you’ve any more questions about it!

Flies are too fast. You have to be skillful to shoot them, and that would expose my tortoise like reactions!

Cheers. I’ve obviously been hanging around http://www.strobist.com too much and have got into the ‘share your setup’ thing.

I enjoyed shooting these. It is nice to shoot something that shows something that you cannot see with your eye.
