A nice cup of tea…. and err Urris again
-
andy mcinroyParticipant
PetetheBloke and I went up to Urris again tonight for a nice cup of tea.
It was a bit cloudy, but between cups, we popped down to the waters edge for these three.

SteveDParticipantAndy – Love the first one here. Lovely colour in the foreground pebbles, great texture in the midground water, and the soft tones in the sky to finish off the journey!!
andy mcinroyParticipantMartinParticipantPictures 1 and 3 are my favorites. Colours and tones are nice. Might be just my monitor but the pictures maybe are lacking a bit of punch or something? The Rocks in the pictures are possibly a bit to dark might try over exposing them by a half stop. I might have cropped a very small bit from the bottom of the 1st picture. Over all though Picture 1 and 3 are the best composed and are my favorites. Very nice pictures. Must visit Urris myself over the summer (think its Donegal direction just over from Horn head which is another great spot)
andy mcinroyParticipantThanks Martin,
Last week it was “punch” (see my previous thread). This week it was a nice cup of tea.
I agree with you about the dark rocks. In the third image, I think I misplaced the grad filter a little too low in the frame. In the second I was trying to draw attention to the hint of colour in the sky and that bit of reflection in the sea. I’m not sure if it has worked though.
If anyone wants to know where Urris is, PM me and I’ll tell you which county it’s in. You can have the grid ref for a modest sum.
Andy
jb7ParticipantI can’t say I’m particularly convinced by these,
and its probably something to do with the light-Is this a location that works with early light?
j
andy mcinroyParticipantThanks jb7,
I don’t think you would have much luck with early light. The Urris coast is shaded by the urris hills to the east.
Much better for the evening light.

ajParticipantStevenHannaMemberI really love the foreground interest in these shots Andy. This location must have so much photographic potential.
I can see why it’s a favourite of yours!Steven
PeteTheBlokeMemberNice calm mood Andy. I think the light was a bit unkind really.
I like the 3rd one – the bright green seaweed lifts things a bit.
Matt HarperParticipant1 and 3 to me. get exposures and angles. I realy need to get myself a decent (goes lower then 3/4ft) tripod. Perhaps a stronger ND grad for the 4 photo though, the sky seems to be alittle lacking in colour.
Matt.
