Yup, I got bored of the macros. So, not having many willing volunteers I acted as photographer and photographee too. I used natural light, a big window, slightly up and to the right.
There is plenty I don’t like about this:
Most obviously, the noise – I stupidly underexposed and even with RAW I couldn’t bring it up without getting the noise. I tried to use it to my advantage as much as possible and that’s why the BW.
Woodchip wallpaper!!! It was difficult to move away to get it OOF because then I didn’t know where to pre focus. I also don’t have a cable release so I had to scramble about to get back in frame during the timer countdown…
I do think it’s possibly a bit dark overall still but I think I tried to get it lighter and it looked awful. I’m just lost if my subject doesn’t have petals or leaves, seriously.
But I was just wondering if there’s anything positive that can be taken from the experience…? Any suggestions to keep in mind for the future? Apart from getting a real model, that will actually smile, of course
Gave a go myself… barely touched levels, just dodged, burned and combos of reduce noise and gaussian blur, selective erasing of said reduce noise and gaussian blur. followed by adding the slightest bit of noise on a new layer, blending it back in, and adding a tiny white border that the shot blurs out to… And breath…
