This one suffered from the curse of central focus, I did crop a bit to remove some of the right,
but still don’t like the composition so much.
Land ahoy!
Finishing touches
I watched this guy limbering up to hip-hop(?) music, and I was sceptical.
But then he started bodypopping, and he was great.

5faytheParticipantHi Martin,
You are certaintly busy on the street these days and well done for that.
I’m by no means an expert on street photography but I’ll have a go anyway. You have photographed a great expression on the child’s face in #1.
He looks very wary of the central figure.
As it often is on the street one is seldom given a lot of time to compose
and make other decisions and what is there is there at the moment.
The 2 central characters here make an excellent photograph on their own.
You could possibly have cropped a little tighter to the adult’s back but I like
it for the child’s expression which steals the show.in #2 we again have an excellent expression and action from a child.
Other parts of the image look sharper on my screen than the bicycle and
it’s occupants which is a pity if that’s the case.#3 is well spotted as well.
I couldn’t help my eye being drawn to the partially included figure on the right.
A fraction wider and she would have been all there and your man on the LHS
would have had a little more room.#4 is the least successful for me.
Maybe it needs the wary child giving him the eye.Hope I’m not coming across as some sort of expert as that’s far from true.
I am enjoying following your street exploits and I look forward to the next installment.Well done.
John.
MartinOCParticipantThanks John, a very detailed reply.
This street stuff can be very random, it is hard to the perfect shot but with practise hopefully it gets better.
The last one I did think myself was weakest, without any explanation it is hard to know what’s going on, and it is a sparse shot interest wise.
Hopefully the blur in the second won’t be too bad in printing and the child’s face and hand will carry the shot. The blur is down to a slow shutter speed, not enough to freeze the motion.
The girl on rhs in #3 excluded herself from the shot while I was framing , a bit of a pity. The main subjected raised her mirror a bit too, which I think helped.
Many thanks for your comments,
Martin
