I’m lucky enough to be involved in a parkrun that started up locally. It’s a great excuse to get the camera (which was gathering dust) out and it has reignited my interest in photography.
I have a Nikon D50 with a basic Nikon 80-200mm f4/5-5.6D lens so kit is a bit rudimentary. Looking at getting something faster as I’d like to get into taking shots at some local GAA matches.
A few shots from recent races. Very new to all this so advice/tips appreciated.
I think that these are well taken photos with good expressions and interest. Your current gear seems to be doing you well tbh.
Regarding a faster lens, you’ll be fine of course if you have good light at f5.6 and just bump up the iso a bit if you are struggling to get faster shutter speed. I use the 80-200 f2.8 with a 1.4 teleconv and it does fine.
I’d say give the GAA shots a go with your current gear, post up and we can see how it performs for you.
Paul some goodadvice from Mark.
I would speak to the local GAA club and get permission from them.
Underage football is a great place to start.
Park runs are getting very popular and the runners love to see pictures of themselves out and about. Great set by the way and it’s the photographer not the gear that gets the shot.
Since upgraded to Nikon D7000 which I am very happy with. Still looking at lenses though the Nikon 80-200 is doing me ok at the moment. A few shots taken with the new camera..
Have tried a few GAA shots, will post them up in a separate thread..
