Gulp. They’re very good Noely.
First one is very good indeed, so sharp and that last one, the reflection of the flowers is
very well done. What macro lens were you using ?
Ed
Noely FParticipantOk, here’s a secret…..these were taken on a Fuji Finepix s5500 on auto mode, macro setting(duh) using a homemade lens held in front of the camera lens! If ya have an old pair of binoculars lying around, unscrew the front lens housing and hold it onto your lens( it’s better if ya have a uv filter covering your lens). The tricky bit is focusing,ya have to move the camera in and out ’til the subject area you want is in focus…steady hands are a must and it’s pointless trying in windy conditions!
Doesn’t work with DSLR’s though……but I’ll find a way :lol:elvenParticipantBeautiful stuff. Great to see something like that showing that it’s the person behind the camera that makes the difference, and not the gear :D
I especially like the third one, because you see those droplet pictures done to bits but it’s a different approach entirely…
Something to watch out for is the banding in the subtle change of tones like in the background of the beastie picture – I’ve been having a tough time with that one – using levels or sharpening at all will lose the nice soft transition from dark to light. It may be better to sharpen with a mask on of some kind, or by using the history brush on those bits afterwards.
Look forward to seeing more of the above!
ciaranParticipantNormally I skip right past the macro and close up sections of forum, because I dont have any interest at all in macro photography. But as this post was from a new member I decided to take a peek and I’m delighted I did.
They are outstanding shots! Colour is perfect, great sharpness, composition is spot on, as is DOF and everything else. Wow all round really
Noely FParticipantThanks for your replies. The banding is a problem due to the DOF , suppose I could use masking or be really lazy and just blur it out :) I was never a macro fan,I mainly shoot wildlife and nature but I do like experimenting and thats how the macros came about, there’s a whole new world out there now!
I’m from a graphic design background so my flower shots tend to focus on colour and form…..random precision I call it :lol:AliParticipantLooked at these earlier, they are exceptional. Especially like the flower with the beads of water. Pretty much flawless.
