A stunning evening…

Went out for sunset on Saturday evening after watching some beautiful displays the previous few evenings from my sofa..! 8) I wasn’t let down and I just happened to be in my favorite location at the perfect tide position. All taken in Salterstown, Louth, looking North towards the Cooley Peninsula with the Mournes in the distance. I’m happy with the results. All with 5D2, 17-40 and various Lee ND filters. Colours where stunning. All with Daylight WB (as usual…!)
Cheers in advance…

Green MeanieParticipantStunning colours. I took a few down there myself but the light at that time of the day is savage.
Next time your heading down give us a shout.

richiehatchMemberCheers John..! Ye know I actually slowed down going past your house in case you where out gardening or something. Next time I’m down there I’ll give ye a bell.
See ye

Green MeanieParticipantDoes chasing the 4 year old round the garden trying to get him inside constitute gardening?
DaveMurdochParticipantb318ispParticipantA couple of thoughts based on the fact that you have a wonderful setting:
– Colours and textures are amazing
– For the first two, a lower viewpoint may help the composition by closing up the sea (unless you were deliberately trying to get this effect)
– For #3, I find the foreground strangely bright compared to the sky
– For all of them, about half a stop less exposure may also be an option
– #4 is a great and unusual pic, the lead in lines, the mysterious mid ground and the water make it a winner here for meaoluainParticipantrichiehatchMemberThanks for the replies guys…! All opinions taken on board and ready for action the next time I’m out…! :D
Thanks again

GaryrichiehatchMemberThanks guys…! Much appreciated.
Yes Gary its a nice location. The rock formations are really interesting but apart from that there actually isnt a whole lot going on..! The tide and the light are the 2 things that will pull everything together. Tide has to be full or pretty dam close to it. Evening light is best for direction at the moment but perhaps maybe another 2-3 weeks so the sun sets further North and the light would catch more of the rock in the foreground. There is a bit of a bump/hill over my shoulder thats just blocking the very best directional light at the moment.
Thanks again

streetshooterMemberrichiehatchMemberThanks for your opinion streetshooter…! Care to elaborate what ye think might be OTT…? Colours are maybe a tad saturated but I can show unprocessed raws if ye want for comparison. It was a colourful sunset. :?: There is no HDR trickery involved here. Straight shots taken with filters..!
Cheers
