A walk in the park…

Took these pics of my three-year-old son a couple of weeks ago when out for a walk in the park. He’s never a very cooperative subject – very much a case of grabbing a shot when you can. Even so, I’m determined to take plenty of pictures as he’s growing up soooo soooo fast…..

I think that the skin looks a bit washed and bright (but this could well be my monitor!)… regardless these are very cool pictures and great captures. I tried to pick a favourite but they are all different. Very sharp and the eyes are spot on……really very good. What kit do you use?

Thanks for the comment. I took the pics with my canon 40d and 700-200. The tough thing about parks is that the green grass can cast a type of reflection that sometimes does funny things to skin tones. In the middle one above there was a kid’s slide made from shiny steel which was reflecting up from below.

In spite of being uncooperative, he’s still my favourite subject :)

Another pic from the same day…

I see the barbers in your part of town are still on strike Cliff……  I hope their scissors are as sharp as your sharpening techniques when they do open for business and finally get their hands on him.

..and what great practise kids are too. Nicely done, I think the WB is a little cool/magenta on the first set.

Well he does get the occasional trim but maybe not as often as he should, lol…

A 50mm works great indoors, but there’s no doubt that the longer 70-200mm makes if a lot easier to get outdoor shots of fast moving kids. Definitely worth putting in a request with Santa!

these are all super. I know Exactly the feeling with trying to get these moments. It’s a challenge with lots of wasted frames for me.

How did you get such nice even light across the face? I’m guessing it’s a PP technique? Doesn’t look like fill flash. Regarless of what it is, they look great.

your son is very photogenic too.

You have a very photogenic son. These images are sharp and well composed, only you know if the skin color is off. On my monitor it looks just fine. Nice shots.

I am no expert and started out recently but I think that you really captured your little boy. There is nothing as nice as natural photos of children. The clarity of these pics is unreal. Your child is lovely. Well done

agree with Dalya00. these are great natural captures. would look good all together in 3 aperture frame hanging on your wall :)
    lovely looking kid.
