I took these about 2 years ago in the Barrow-in-Furness in the UK on Kodak 3200 film (it’s what I happened to have in my camera not by choice). I think the grain worked well with the decay and emptyness of the image after I printed it. I wish I’d taken more time to explore the building but in saying that, I’m sure it wasn’t the safest place to go poking around in.
Any C&C would be appreciated thanks.
RobMemberpete4130MemberThanks Rob, I found it tucked away in an old box of prints. Looking at it again maybe taking the shot lower down, nearer to the ground might have emphasised the perspective a little more though? Not much that can be done about it now.
Positive PressureMemberI think the grainy high-speed film has very much worked in your favour for these images. The sense of starkness and negelect are pretty much immediate and it looks like you summed up the mood of the location well. :)
You got good convergence in the first shot and while a lower perspective may have emphasised the roof beams a bit more, the debris on the floor may have become too obscure and indistinguishable. I think you went with the right option at the time of shooting.
A bit of sharpening in the second shot, in particular to the brickwork and beams should add a bit more impact to the shot.

earthairfireParticipantLove these kinda shots. I’m a big fan of derelict buildings and the such like. Love the top shot – the windows are over exposed, but without bracketing and compositing the shot, there’s not a lot you could have done about this. Maybe fill in flash, but I doubt this would look good.
Great job, given the lighting.

pete4130MemberAs far as I can remember, it was getting latein the evening around haloween, so the overexposure on the windows was hard to avoid. I don’t want to seem like I’m making excuses for the images though….just trying to reply to comments people have made on the images. I’m glad of all the C&C guys, thanks!
