I think I know the kind of shot you are trying to get but I dont know how to get it, there is a similar scene near me and i just cant capture what is in my mind.
maybe try an hide the very bright sun behind the ruin to reduce the contrast and reduce the lens flare thats all I got
It looks like a lovely location.
Maybe HDR would sort the issue for you. Or use the sun when it is coming through the windows as opposed to causing the underexposure and therefore no details int he brickwork

No that is not what I mean. It has to do with the buildin it self. somehow I never seem to get the right angle. I’m very happy with the colour (by the way it is HDR, and I didn’t want detail of the brickwork, but more a sillouet thing) and I’m also happy with the sun, althoug a bit of cloud would be perferred. But there seem to be no nice angle to this abbey. Damn monks.
yes the abbey is very difficult to get good composure!
I would probably suggest aiming for a sunset and with a long telephoto lens from
the main road shoot it that way. there seems to be a nice profile to the abbey
from that road!
I have some manual focus lenses you could borrow all Olympus Om lenses . . .
