Hey Owen

The thiing that stands out in the first shot is the eye contact – – unfortunately the white seems blown which dominates the image
The second one – doesn’t work for me ( sorry) its just too busy and a bit disconnected.. what I do think you did well was change the perspective- i think you got low for this one which does help – maybe shallower depth of field next time you try this ..

Thanks for the comments, all constructive comments very much appriciated, trying to reduce the number of shouts taken and improve the quality.
Didn’t think they we the best myself, but haven’t posted many images so I get I better get cracking.
I thought the first one was kinda funny as this guy had all the aboriginal gear on…with a pair of raybans on his head, but i agree the white does take away from the image.

For # 2 it was a bit of a rush shot and a shallower depth of field would of helped. but he was looking at me out of the corner of my eye so I said I would put in in.

keep shooting and posting … I find the more shots I take the luckier i get ;) so keep going and enjoy it ;)

Neither really works for me.. and the only saving grace really is that they’re Aborigine’s.

The first, the eye contact is wonderful, but the lighting seriously lets it down. The blown out background, particularly where the white horizontal line decapitates his head, seriously detracts from the shot. As do the pockets of shadows where his eyes should be. Fill flash would have been very useful here.

The eye level perspective of the second is the weakest element. Next comes the busy wall in the background. Getting lower and shooting much shallower would have helped the shot enormously.
