Above the Clouds

    Hi all,

This was taken in Tenerife on Mount Teide, which is a dormant volcano. It was at a very high altitude (don’t know how much, enough to be above the clouds  ) I think the land in the distance is La Gomera, another island. C&C welcome.

Great shot Brian. I love the way you’ve captured the clouds going down the side of the hills. Lovely colours too. Well done

couldnt fault this shot, excelklent all round from the composition through to the exposure , dept of field and colour. Nice one!. did you do much post processing?, if you did then even that is spot on. great all rounder

    Absolutely magnificent shot Brian.
This is one of the best images I have seen in the Landscape section.
    Well exposed and well composed….
    Brilliant.

Thanks again for the comments :) Here is another version. It’s not the same shot but it was taken around the same time. I used a 2.35:1 “cinematic” ratio. As for processing, I had to use HDR as I don’t have any ND grads yet, but what I have reproduced here is very close to what I actually saw, it was pretty spectacular! I’d be interested to know which version you prefer…

Not to take away from the second one but your first version is definitely holding my attention for longer. Also, that has to be the best use of HDR Ive seen in a long time.

Thanks Mark. One thing I don’t like about HDR is what it does to clouds. I think in the second one I brought in some of one of the original exposures for the cloud section.
