Taken tonight in Achill, Mayo. Haven’t posted anything on here for a while so thought I’d throw it up.
snaphappyMemberLovely composition and foreground is gorgeous but there is a big whole in sky that looks blown out. Don’t know if this is recoverable from the raw file but as it stands this really rakes from anotherwise great image.
RASMITH32MemberBeautiful image,Almost lunar in its feel. I would definitely consider a sky repacement. I think it would be well worth a go.
veryspecialguestsMemberThanks for the reply’s. I just had a look at the raw and the sky isn’t burned out so it went wrong somewhere in the editing. Think I’ll do a sky replacement the manual way anyhow… go back when there is better light! The sky and generally lack of interesting light is letting the image down no doubt about it, on the right track though!

Not a bad idea.. gets rid of the sky anyhow!

the sky is definitely overblown… and foreground could be bit brighter… have you consider 3stop soft nd grad cokin filer? that would hold back the highlights in the sky and give you more light in the foreground… if you are using nd filer directly on your lense just get proper size ring and slide holder on it and slide a nd grad filer to cover the sky… should help.veryspecialguestsMembermcmartin wrote:

Thanks for the reply! Yes I have considered it, it would most definitely make a big difference. Unfortunately the my filter collection at the moment consists of one fader nd filter. Which only fits my old 18-55 kit lens …
I would love to start building up my collection soon, the financial strappings of student life are all that’s holding me back. Filters really very usefull, and fun to experiment with I would imagine.
mcmartinParticipanttry ebay and look for step-up rings… if the filter is big enough with step up rings you will be able too use one filter on different lenses…
