I’m not really sure about this, I personally think there is too much foreground and nothing of interest really jumps out at me. I do like the B&W converstion though.
That’s a nice use of DOF. Isolation in an image and it works for me but I can understand other peoples aversion to an image where 80% is out of focus. Nice conversion too.
Thanks for the feedback. I deliberately blurred out the background as I was trying to show the effect the chamber of the court cairn has on people. Although the view is fabulous, whenever you’re up there all your fascination lies with the tomb itself and that’s really the feeling I was trying to get across. The view becomes secondary ;) but I know not everyone will appreciate or agree with my thinking. lol
I am pleased with the conversion myself as I do like b&w images and again I wanted all the attention go be on the stones rather than colour distracting the eye from them…
I took a few different shots on the same day if you’re interested in having a look! I know they could all do with a bit of sharpening but I just haven’t got around to it yet…
I love all these images, I used to be really into the ancient historical sites of Ireland
and I spent a lot of time researching literature and travelling the length and breath of the country
recording these sites.
I live the first image because as one of the guys earlier said its more or less a pic with little
foreground interest but you have made it interesting by using a short DOF to isolate the
foreground which would have been otherwise lost in the image!
