Promotional photo of actor Michael Parle. 30 second exposure. The blue pattern was done with a glow stick, the orange in the background is from the street lights.

I’m afraid this doesn’t work for me Gerard

The actors face is blown out at one side and in complete darkness at the other so it’s impossible to tell who he is. And the glow stick. ? It’s very messy looking and adds nothing. And the curtains dont’ work either. Sorry!

What were you trying to achieve here? I would imagine a tighter headshot type portrait would be more beneficial to an actor for promotional purposes rather than one where you can’t make out who he is? I would suggest you retake this again. Make sure you get his face exposed correctly so you can at the very least make out who he is. I can’t offer any advice on the other stuff, glow sticks and the like but if it were me I wouldn’t do what you have done here. You could try a poster type shot where the actor is posing and you take a tight headshot portrait or set up your lights to get a full body shot whichever way you like. You can superimpose this onto a poster that you design in Photoshop afterwards.

Sorry if I sound negative but if it were me I’d appreciate and prefer to be told if something doesn’t look right. Maybe someone else with more experience of this kind of stuff can help you more.
