Adobe creative cloud

With the deadline for a cheap one year sub looming (31st) for those with qualifying products, what are people thoughts? Are adobe going to back down and offer a license version or is this the future of software? How many people have subscribed already

Not sure if they will back down, they seem resigned to lose the end of their market that only wants one of their applications, in favour of design professionals and commercial companies who use a good portion of their suite. For heavy suite users it would seem like quite a good deal, but to those who just use photoshop, I can see how they would not feel any love from Adobe.

As the metaphorical boyfriend/ girlfriend, Adobe has long been a bad one, offering little and continuing to gouge their customer base for more. They’ve had photographers by the short and curlies for years with the necessity to keep current to avail of camera raw upgrades, and with the creative cloud, I would not fancy jumping into bed with them at all. As a lightroom user, these developments make me understandably nervous, and would be quite wary of getting in too deep, as with the collective finger shown to standalone photoshop users, their promises to keep lightroom out of the creative cloud ring very hollow to me. Especially from a company I would see to be more concerned about their bottom line than their userbase.

For anyone contemplating buying into the creative cloud, I would be prepared to see Adobe extracting the maximum amount of flesh, once they have you locked in.
