New to this site. Here are a few action pictures I’ve taken and looking for any tips anyone can give me as how to improve my shots. The settings weren’t particularly great, taken at friendly 5 a side games in my home town. I used a 80-200 2.8 lens on a Nikon D90 for the shots.
Hi. I’m no expert, but I do a bit of sports myself and I’ve taken some advise along the line. Here’s my advise for what it’s worth.
Although you have stopped the action in your shots, there doesn’t seem to be much action…maybe that’s the players :D … Wait until there’s a tackle. Make sure they haven’t their backs to you. Crop tight and keep your horizons straight. Use continuous shooting mode on your camers and also AI focus.
Hope this helps and as I said I’m no expert.
as the guys before me already said: keep the lines straight (even if you have to do it in post-proecessing), try to capture expressions on players faces and if you keep the shutter speed at over 1/320 you won’t get blur movement. try to use the light (the sun in your case) in your favour, it’s a huge help.
