Advice on Nikon’s P7100 vs. J1

    Heya,

Im currently looking at picking up a nice compact camera for out on the bike/cycling and just for something different.
I currently have a nikon d3s for work, I also have a d80 but im thinking of selling this and getting something new and smaller.

    Any advice or tips appreciated.

I’d find both these cameras crp. Sorry. Small sensors just limit your options and the P7100 is supposedly pretty slow as well (dunno about the J1) I’d at least go M4/3s, anyway, sensor wise. You may have other demands though. If I was in the market for a digi-compact, I’d perhaps think about a Fuji X100.That one has an APS-C sized sensor and a nice lens. But it is too expensive in my book. Not sure why you want to limit yourself to one brand.
Edit: I guess you can forget the X100 as well. See: https://www.photographyireland.net/fuji-x100-t46824.html Corey mentions the various issues he has with that camera. I used a friend’s Nex-5 a while back and whereas it is a bit gimmicky and the zooms are big enough to warrant wanting to stay with an SLR, it wasn’t that bad with the 16mm.
Back to square one for me then, advice-wise….luckily I’m not looking for gear. All the best.
