I have taken photos of a music and arts festival, I would like to submit them to magazines and local newspapers etc, but as im new to all this im not sure how to go about it, like who’s the best to contact, who will buy my images and for how much? what are the rates of pay etc. I have good clear shots of internationally recognised music acts.

Any help on this subject would be very much appreciated!!

Best of luck with that. The music industry (photography) is very poor, from what I hear. They pay feck all for images.

Bottom line, you need to contact the editor. Some will not accept unsolicited images. Some will only accept images from their list of photographers. Some will accept unsolicited images but won’t pay a cent.

Papers and magazines generally have their own set rates. These can be anything from €20 up. It depends on a number of factors.

It’s a tough industry to break in to, so your shots need to be very very special. The big internationally recognised acts tend to be well covered.
