to help :)I did not understand the aperture numbers as they seem to go the wrong way. But spent an hour reading the link and have a little more understanding. It seems that the spec of the kit lens that comes with the new 1000d is what I should be using . At least until I find out what I enjoy snapping first.
tsergairl. are you trying to get me killed. I still cant believe she has gave me a now 400e budget.
and besides,
my birthday is in Feb LOL.

believe me (us). few portraits, and she will certainly change her mind :-) and then, you have to say that with a better lens would be much much better :-)

gsxr1ParticipantI am a keen fly fisherman also . I also find beuaty in fly casting and trout jumping on the lakes and rivers. pics from a google image search
I would love to take photos in this type of scenario. It would be golden if I could capture a shot of a fish taking a fisherman’s fly. I cant seem to find such a pic on the net. Just that moment when it jumps for the flyhook and snaps the line tight out of the water.
Im guessing the kit lens would be useless for this type of shot.
What type of set up would one require to get close up to a 20 foot cast into a lake or freeze the line flying through the air during casting
hotjohn01ParticipantYeah, i was thinking a used Nikon D60 and 18-55 lens kit would be ideal for you. I used to have one and found it extremely versatile :)
gsxr1ParticipantI got a Cannon 1000d with a free one day basic corse. Not till feb 2011
I have been taking shots for the last few hours but find all the controls abit baffling.
But even in auto mode it takes fantastic photos. Well i think so anyways .
here is a sample of two I took of the kids dwarf hamsters. these guys are very small . like field mice
im very happy with it so far and have a book to study as well.
cant wait to explore the advanced settings
