    Great!

Very good B&W landscape! Dramatic sky, Great range in tones.

Good texture too! And I love the rays of light onto the town…I’d nearly dodge/burn that area to pronounce them a tiny bit more

If I had to fault it, it’s that the horizon is too near the middle…And I don’t know what I want to see more of…The sky or the great texture on the beach!

I instantly thought – great texture…you’ve really captured that in the strand….also the vastness of the strand. My eye is continuously pulled to that dark cloud on the right, which I find a bit distracting…..but it’s a great atmospheric sky. I’d be very happy with that myself!

Thats excellent – really like that shot and the conversion is spot on as well. Great foreground and sky as well – really liked the sun coming down on the right hand side – this is a really lovely picture all round. Can I ask what steps (if any) did you go through in photoshop ?

Mmmmmhm, I love it. I like it even better if I view it with about half the sky off the page, to concentrate more on the sand because I think that’s where the interest is.

:D Thanks for the feedback everyone… I really appreicate it.

I’ve taken on your suggestions in the following edit – one third sky and a little more dodge & burn in the sunlight over the headland ;) I’m not sure that this crop doesn’t make even more of a distraction of the storm cloud on the right…?

Anyway – the photoshop “process” was -more or less – I did fiddle around a bit ;) Conversion to Black and White – Crop – Levels adjustment – Select Top half of the sky another levels adjustment – Curves adhustment for contrast -one for shadows and one for highlights – and then added a small squirt of SepiaFilter – Unsharpen mask and then a frame..

    Anyway – thanks a million :D

Thanks for including the steps – I would prefer the original pic than the new edit (ps you used /url tags instead of /img ones)

Its a good one for sure, the sky, the sand, the contrast, the rays of sunlight. reflection in the water.

I like the original crop also.

What/how did you do with the sepia ?

You should be proud of this photograph. Super light and its all about the light with landscape photography

Thanks Mark, I appreicate your comments..:)

With regard to using the sepia in the shot, I have to give the credit to Ciaran, He mentoned somewhere in his comments that he usually adds a little sepia to the shadows using colour balance – so I used this to try keep it really subtle .. Thanks Ciaran ;)

Hmmmmmm.. Interesting thought ? Any thoughts on where to go about getting it printed on canvas DaveC… A couple of people have asked me about buying prints (how cool is that :D) and I’d be very interested to find out about getting a canvas print ..

    Cheers
