This is a perfect example of how shots of our kids can go beyond the sentimental snapshot to a cracking photograph.
Great focus on the eyes, the shallow DOF really helps isolate her from the background, wonderful expression and perfect timing. I think the shutter speed is really spot on too, fast enough to freeze the flying mud but enough to leave a little blur in on the boot to show motion. Wonderful capture.
That is so lovely pic.

I truly like her face, so cute smile.And one really good thing of this picture is the freedom feeling.
No one is telling that little girl, that it is not ok for a girl to have fun in muddy puddle.I like this picture very much.

Myself and my wife just stood there laughing while she had a ball for 20 mins in the mud.
She was actually kicking the mud at us so we had to back away, especially me with the camera in hand. :wink:

One thing I forgot to add.. even though it’s probably stating the obvious. But what also helps this shot to really work is the perspective. Getting down low to the eye level of your daughter has made all the difference. Great shot!

It’s great to see a picture of kid where the poor child isn’t being made to sit
still instead the kid is having fun. It looks great.Hope you had a good waterproof housing on the camera though

The second one, whilst technically fine just doesn’t have the feel/joy/emotion of the first. Doesn’t come close.
