Finaly Worked up the guts to shoot a friend who has done a bit of modeling.

    Aimee,

Clever – and woks well. The first is a real cracker and would also look good with an agressive crop. The second I’d prefer to see more even lighting rather than the sidelighting. Great first post – keep them coming!

    thanks for the feedback!

would you have any suggestions for a more even light ?

I probably should have moved the flash closer and possibly higher ?

I’m not expert on this, but more vertically over her I would have thought. The closer you go the more of a spotlight affect you’d get – and you already see a slight darkening in the corners.

    Hi Aimee,

I really like the first image. Her eyes are quite striking and I’d like to have seen it in full colour.

I like the second image also but your model looks a tad uncomfortable (her chin almost resting on her chest).

    Well done,

    John

thanks b318isp, i reckon i had a bit of new toy syndrome. just got some remote triggers for the flash so i was trying to take advantage of it and get rid of that on camera flash look.

johnnymc aimee is actually the models name I’m dan :)

i agree with you on the uncomfortable side of things. I had some better poses but i’m trying to be very hard on my self sharpness wise and this was the best.

if have another pose that is sharp but i think its a bit too posed.

    Aimee Round 2 :

I tried my hand at some studio shooting, I found it quite a big change and difficult to get results I was happy with.

Any comments would be really appriciated as i’m hopeing to go back into the studio again

I like the second of these last ones-
not sure about the Lolita lollypop references,
but I’m sure they’ll strike a chord with some-

She seems more comfortable with more space,
    I like the expression-

    Dan,
Agree with JB the second of the last set is the best IMHO unfortunately I’m not a peircing lover and it puts me off but as JB said some will like it.

Great work, I truely love your BW shots although it seems your model has light blue eyes and in bw they look very dark, maybe some extra postprocessing might sort it unless you like it this way (minor thing I guess).
I believe some people don’t feel comfortable about piercing and tattoos but I really love a little bit of gothic and fetish touch to portraits. Last series is very good, skin tones in left hand pic are fabulous so are colours on lollypop. You might try some extra work on right hand side pic, especially shoulders. That’s it for now. I’m a beginner with studio lighting myself and would love to find out more about your lighting set ups if you want to share it.
